dc.descriptionContemporary psychiatry is marked by a biologicist tendency with special use of psychotropic in the treatment of its supposed illness. In this sense, the aim of this paper is to analyze, within the historical constitution of psychiatry, its search for the organic origin of mental disorders, from Philippe Pinel’s theory of alienism and Benedict-Augustin Morel’s theory of degeneracy. Thus, inspired by the genealogical foucaultian perspective, this article intends to present clues about the way of the biologization of psychiatric speeches and practices, who arrive the 21st century in the current classification system of mental disorders, which nourishes the biomedical paradigm and promote the banalization of diagnosis and the widespread prescription of psychotropic drugs.en-US
dc.descriptionA psiquiatria contemporânea é marcada por uma tendência biologicista com especial uso de psicofármacos no tratamento de suas supostas enfermidades. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste artigo é analisar, no âmbito da constituição histórica da psiquiatria, sua busca pela origem orgânica das patologias mentais, a partir da teoria alienista de Philippe Pinel e da teoria da degenerescência de Benedict-Augustin Morel. Dessa forma, inspirados na perspectiva genealógica foucaultiana, o artigo pretende apresentar pistas sobre o caminho da biologização dos discursos e práticas psiquiátricas que culminaram no século XXI no atual sistema classificatório das patologias mentais, que nutre o paradigma biomédico e promove a banalização de diagnósticos e a generalizada prescrição de psicofármacos.pt-BR
