Descripción :	Con el reciente anuncio que dará inicio a negociaciones entre el gobierno y el ELN, son muchas las dudas que surgen entre los diferentes implicados y afectados por el conicto que nació varias décadas atrás. Los interrogantes de si ¿esta vez sí llevará a resultados positivos o será otro intento fallido? ¿Llegará al fin un periodo de tranquilidad para Colombia? Generan incertidumbre en cada uno de los observadores del proceso, básicamente por la experiencia de otros diálogos que han fracasado. Con el presente artículo se pretende evidenciar el transcurrir del conflicto a la negociación. Por lo que primeramente se presentará un contexto histórico, nacional e internacional de las causas de este conicto; y su evolución. Por otra parte se muestra el desarrollo histórico de los diálogos del gobierno con el ELN y los efectos que este ha tenido en la sociedad colombiana; por último se abordarán los puntos exprimidos en la negociación próxima a iniciar entre el ELN y el gobierno. aring in mind the recent announcement that will give beginning to negotia-tions between the government and ELN, doubts are coming up in the people involved and the victims by the conict that born a few decades ago. Questions like: they will reach positive results this time? Or a period of calmness comes to the end for Colombia? Are creating uncertainty in every one of the viewers of this process, basically by the expe-rience of others dialogues that have failed. With this article, we pretend to show the elapse from conflict to negotiation. For that reason, firstly, it will be presented an historic context, national and international about the causes of this conflict; and its evolution. On the other hand, it will be shown the historic development of dialogues between the government and the ELN and the effects that this one have had in the Colombian society; finally, it will be addressed the main points in the negotiation that is about to begin between the government and the ELN.
