| Descripción : | The article discusses the ways in which two Mexican indigenous communi ties face sociolinguistic discrimination in times of glo balization. i t shows the experience of the original im migrants of s anta Catarina ( s tate of Morelos), an old n ahua community, and of the Mixteco immigrants of s an Juan Mixtepec ( s tate of o axaca), within the a mer ican national context. These cases question different versions of globalization that predict the inevitable extinction of linguistic and cultural diversity, demon strating that the reconfiguration of identity responds, among other factors, to different histories and local dynamics, as well as to different migratory patterns. |
